How My Grandmother Cooked

The smell of a kitchen you can't go back to.

The story

Kofi stands in the rain outside a restaurant, suit damp, looking up at the sign and hesitating. Warm light spills from the doorway, and from inside comes the old Swahili music he used to hear in his grandmother's kitchen.

How it was made

How My Grandmother Cooked was rendered with Seedance 2.0 inside ShowMaker Studio.

Its opening shot names the character and the location as @references (@kofi, @entrance). The prompt sets up the contrast: cold blue-grey street light against warm amber from the doorway. On the soundtrack there's rain, city hum and muffled music.

What to take from it

Nostalgia works as a contrast. Put the character in the cold, and put the memory in the warm light he hasn't stepped into yet.
