How much does an AI micro drama episode cost?
Our full episode of Marry My Broken Son, about 67 seconds, vertical, built from 8 multishot panels with a consistent cast, cost under $7 in credits. The bill depends mostly on how many attempts each shot takes. The price of one clip matters less. Approve the script, stills and voices before rendering video, and use the free steps where you can.
The number
One episode of Marry My Broken Son: about 67 seconds, vertical 9:16, eight multishot panels, the same cast in every scene. Total cost was under seven dollars in credits.
That's the whole figure we're going to give. We didn't log every line item, so we won't pretend to a breakdown. What we can show is what individual steps cost on screen, and where the money actually goes.
What the steps we saw cost
- A room still on Nano Banana 2 cost 4 credits.
- A Shoot with AI regenerate on Seedance mini cost 14 credits. It showed the cost before anything was spent.
- Upscaling a soft crop cost 2 credits.
- Using a frame from an earlier shot was free.
- An end card shot was free.
- Generate Show, which assembles every scene into the episode, was free.
For scale, plans start at $19 a month for 900 credits, and subscribers can top up at 45 credits per dollar. There's also a free plan with 200 credits and no card, which makes narrated films from AI stills. Full prices are on the plan page.
Where the money really goes
The price of a clip matters less than how many times you make it. A shot that renders right the first time costs one clip. A shot you re-roll five times costs five clips for the same one shot.
So the job is to cut attempts:
- Approve before you render. Get the script, the stills and the voices right first. Press Play all and listen. Fixing a voice take is cheap. Fixing it inside a rendered clip isn't.
- Read the checks. They catch a line too long for its shot, or a frame showing something the beat never mentioned. Ours flagged a wheelchair and a character, Maria, that the text didn't include.
- Trim instead of re-rendering. When the model stood Tristan up out of his wheelchair too early, we dragged the trim handle back. The trim is kept and nothing is spent.
- Fix one shot instead of the whole take. Split into two shots breaks a multishot apart, so one bad moment doesn't mean rendering the rest again.
- Change the frame instead of re-rolling the prompt and hoping. Shoot with AI's Change takes a sentence ("make her face the camera, and empty the flute") and keeps everything else in the frame. Then you pick a cheap model for the video.
- Carry frames forward. Scrubbing an earlier shot and using that frame to open the next scene is free, and it keeps continuity without another still.
Pick the model per shot
Render Options picks the model for each shot. Wan 3 starts on your still with up to ten references. Seedance mini re-composes the shot from the references, and it's what we used for the 14-credit fix. Not every shot needs the most expensive option.

Which steps are free?
Using a frame from an earlier shot, adding an end card, and assembling the episode with Generate Show were all free. Trimming a take also spends nothing.
What makes an AI drama episode expensive?
Attempts. Each re-render of a shot costs the full clip price again, so approving the script, stills and voices first and fixing single shots instead of whole takes keeps the cost down.
