Marry My Broken Son: Episode 1

A bride who married into money to save her father learns her husband can't walk. At least, that's what his mother thinks.

The story

She signed the contract to save her father. At the wedding, her new mother-in-law calls her a gold digger, tears off her veil and throws champagne in her face.

Her new husband can't walk, or so his mother believes. By the end of the episode he says the line that turns the series around: "Mother, you tried to kill me so many times. I let you think you succeeded."

How it was made

Episode 1 was made in ShowMaker Studio for under $7 in credits. It runs about 67 seconds as a vertical micro drama episode.

The episode is built from 8 multishot panels. Each panel is one render that covers several shots of a scene in one take, cut on dialogue. That keeps the cast the same from shot to shot.

The cast lives in the project as @references, with character sheets and fixed voices. So the bride, the groom and the mother-in-law look and sound the same in every panel.

What to take from it

What drives the cost is how many tries each shot takes. Approve the script, stills, voices and the free animatic before you render, and a full episode can stay under $7.
